Car and Driver Calls BMW X1 its 2019 Best Subcompact SUV

BMW has built up quite the lineup of SUVs for itself over the last few years. From subcompact crossovers to three-row luxury SUVs, the brand has something for everyone. While they're all impressive vehicles, one in particular caught the attention of Car and Driver magazine.

Each year, Car and Driver picks out models from each SUV segment for its Ten Best Trucks and SUVs Awards. This year, the 2019 BMW X1 received the Best Subcompact Luxury SUV Award.

So, how did Car and Driver make the selection?

According to the publication, vehicles are assessed against other models in the segment according to price, drive dynamics, and how well it fulfills its intended purpose. In the midst of subcompact luxury SUVs, the BMW X1 came out victorious.

The Car and Driver critics had great things to say about the X1, noting in particular its sporty chassis and peppy engine. They also gave a shout out to the X1's class-leading 59 cubic feet of cargo space.

In one of the fastest-growing segments in the market, there's an offering that caters to every taste, style, and priority," the write-up states. "But none of its competition is quite the complete package the X1 is."
