Exterior Design
The BMW i4 and Tesla Model 3 have completely different exterior designs. The Model 3 has a simple, conventional appearance without any particularly interesting curves or contours. In contrast, the i4 has a bold appearance with an iconic kidney grille, deep fenders, and an elegant profile. While the Model 3 has swept-back headlights, the i4 has slim, aggressive units for a more striking appearance.
Bold elements and accents make the BMW i4 stand out on the road while staying undeniably a BMW. The Model 3 has a somewhat plain profile, but the i4 features edges and curves to capture onlookers' attention and imagination. The i4 offers slim, L-shaped taillights with a crisp, bright appearance for the taillight designs, while the Model 3 offers thick taillights.
Both models come with all-glass roofs for a driving experience and a closer connection to your surroundings.
Interior Design
When you step into the BMW i4, you can expect a richly appointed cabin. You can enjoy upscale design with detailed trims, high-end upholstery, and graceful curves. You can expect features such as available rose gold trim, white leather upholstery, and light wood trim. The i4 is expected to have an equally spacious cabin as the BMW 3-Series and a large cargo area.
The Tesla Model 3 has a unique, minimalist interior design. While the front seats feel spacious, the second-row seating feels cramped for adults. You can expect an impressive amount of cargo space, especially when folding down the rear seats.
If you're interested in upscale amenities and design, along with comfort for up to five passengers, the new BMW i4 could be right for you.

Performance
The BMW i4 comes with a standard single motor mounted on the rear axle, producing up to 335 horsepower. The M50 model comes with electric motors on each axle for all-wheel drive driving and up to 536 horsepower and 586 pound-feet of torque. As expected of a BMW model, the i4 has a nearly perfect weight distribution and a low center of gravity for incredible handling. An adaptive M chassis, variable sport steering, and a fine-tuned suspension provide even more fun behind the wheel of this high-performance electric car.
The Tesla Model 3 Performance trim level maximizes out at 480 horsepower. While the Model 3 offers well-weighted handling, you will hear plenty of exterior noise as tires drive on pavement or hit imperfections in the road.
When it comes to driving range, the Model 3 has a slight edge by offering 263 miles standard and up to 353 for the long-range model. The BMW i4 is expected to offer 240 miles standard and up to 300 miles for its long-range model.
Practicality
In Michigan, there is only one Tesla service center, meaning you will have to take long drives for updates and repairs. When you choose a BMW i4, you can visit any BMW dealership for more convenience.
