Reserve the 2018 BMW X2

BMW already offers an impressive lineup of sport activity vehicles in its varied X Series. From the X1 to the X6, these luxury and sport SUVs offer the refinement and performance associated with BMW in practical packages. For 2018, BMW is adding an entirely new model to the X Series line. The 2018 X2 will sit between the X1 and X3 in size, price, and capability. This new entrant in the X Series offers bold styling with sporty driving dynamics and a long list of impressive features. It's a compact SUV for those who enjoy spirited driving, everyday convenience, and premium comfort in equal measure.

While the X2 won't be available for purchase until March of 2018, you can get a feel for what it has to offer below with our features overview. Check out what makes it unique among design, performance, convenience, technology, and more.

In contrast to the more conservatively-designed X1, BMW opted for bold styling cues with the X2. While proportionally similar to the X1, the X2 has a more athletic overall stance with its sloped roofline. Aggressive lines complement angular headlights and a refreshed take on BMW's classic kidney grille design. Vibrant color options accentuate the X2's dynamic angles. Both the standard 18-inch wheels and optional 19-inch wheels tuck nicely under rounded fenders.

Expressive styling continues in the cabin, where premium materials and ergonomic layout reinforce BMW's reputation for quality interior design. A three-spoke, leather-wrapped steering wheel gives control of various systems to the drive. Sport seats with available leather upholstery keep passengers planted during spirited driving. High-quality audio from Harmon Kardon makes the X2's interior sound like a symphony hall. A panoramic sunroof opens up the interior to the sky.

The 2018 X2 comes with a single engine option, but it's a versatile one. The 2.0-liter, twin-turbo four cylinder provides an excellent balance of dynamic power and practical efficiency. Through turbocharging, the engine produces 228 horsepower and a potent 253 pound-feet of torque. Power runs through a smooth, yet responsive eight-speed automatic transmission. According to BMW, the X2 can reach 60 mph from a standstill in just 6.3 seconds.

Another standard feature for the 2018 X2 is BMW's popular XDrive all-wheel drive system. This system can split power between the front and rear wheels according to traction needs. In conjunction with electronic stability control, XDrive can help X2 drivers get the best grip for varying driving conditions. Furthermore, standard Driving Dynamics Control lets drivers select from Comfort, Eco Pro, and Sport drive modes to tailor performance to preferences. Each mode adjusts dampers, steering weight, and throttle response to fit your current driving situation.

The X2 falls in the compact utility vehicle segment, but its smaller stature doesn't mean it lacks in practicality. Pop the rear hatch and you'll find useful upright cargo space with a built-in netted stowing area. Plus, each rear seat folds down individually for interior flexibility. Mix and match seat folding to accommodate a mix of passengers and cargo. Fold all three flat and you'll have considerable space for a variety of loads.

In the X2, technology works to improve the passenger experience from all angles. Wireless charging keeps compatible smartphones ready to use when you arrive at your destination. Onboard Wi-Fi hotspot helps passengers stay connected to their favorite networks and videos. A standard rear-view camera works with the Park Distance Control system to help you get into your space perfectly. BMW's iDrive 6.0 infotainment system lets the drive control audio, navigation, and more with intuitive voice commands. The convenient heads-up display offers useful information while letting you keep your eyes on the road. Displayed information can vary from navigation to collision warnings, speed limits, and more.

M Sport

The X2 M Sport is a package that includes both cosmetic and performance upgrades. The exterior gets extra color options, a rear spoiler, grey trim accents, panoramic moonroof, and available 20-inch wheels. On the performance side, the M Sport gets paddle shifters and adjusted transmission shift response for better acceleration. On the inside, M Sport models get more color options like bright red leather for upholstery.
