New BMW X6

The BMW X6 SAV in Ann Arbor

BMW staked a strong claim to the luxury utility vehicle segment with its introduction of the original X5. That popular model gave drivers an impressive mix of upscale amenities and rugged design. However, it still wasn't quite right for some drivers who wanted a luxurious utility with a sportier edge. Enter the BMW X6.

Sharing a platform and many other elements with the X5, the X6 opts for a sleeker, sportier look. BMW calls it a Sport Activity Coupe, pointing to the model's sloped roofline and other sleek styling elements. At the same time, the new X6 keeps the high ground clearance and upright driving position that are major draws in other BMW SAV models. The X6 wears its two personalities well, offering both precise performance and a rugged edge. You can experience the dynamic persona of the new X6 by visiting BMW of Ann Arbor near Westland.

BMW has revealed a new design evolution for the 2020 X6. The incoming model will introduce the third generation of sport activity coupes, offering a modernized and enhanced take on the formula. There's a lot to look forward to with the 2020 X6.

First off, the X6 keeps its most important styling elements. From the front, the model has a similar appearance to many BMW SAV models. Higher ground clearance, large wheels, and a stout front end give the X6 a rugged appearance. Move to the side view, however, and you'll see the vehicle's distinct roofline that slopes down for a more aerodynamic appearance.

Individual styling elements have been upgraded across the 2020 X6. BMW has opted for more aggressive fender flairs, a wider stance, and updated bumper designs with more creases and edges.

The X6 interior is a sight to behold as well. Updates include a new 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 12.3-inch center touchscreen. Sculped front seats are available, a three-spoke steering wheel, and an emphasis on simple elegance are all classic BMW. As expected, the X6 is available with a range of trim materials ranging from wood to metal and more.

Performance remains a strong suit for the new X6, with two available TwinPower Turbo engines providing the kind of vigor that drivers are looking for in a new BMW. The standard inline-six unit makes a stout 335 horsepower. Output climbs up to 523 horsepower when you choose the V8 engine. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard for all models.

Two drivetrains are available for the new X6. The X6 sDrive 40i model delivers sporty handling with its rear-wheel drive setup. Models equipped with xDrive offer the confidence of intelligent all-wheel drive. Drivers around Farmington Hills and Ypsilanti may prefer xDrive all-wheel drive for better performance in winter conditions.

The new X6 is packed with new technology features.

  • Live Cockpit Professional displays dynamic graphics and information on the 12.3-inch gauge cluster display.
  • Backup Assistant recalls your previous movements so that you can steer out of tight spaces with ease.
  • Digital Assistant is a voice-activated system that adapts to your preferences and helps you get more from your drive.
  • Standard active safety equipment like Frontal Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning help drivers feel confident.
